Vinyl·Engine, print a playable record

What this is

Vinyl·Engine turns an audio file into G-code for a playable record you print yourself on a 3D printer. It is free, experimental beta software. There is no warranty of any kind, express or implied.

You print at your own risk

A record takes one to three hours to print. Do not leave the printer unattended, especially during the first layer. We generate G-code from the start and end code of your own printer profile, but we cannot test every printer, filament or firmware version. Check the preview in your slicer before you print. Any damage to your printer, filament, build plate or surroundings is your responsibility.

You play at your own risk

A printed record is soft PLA. It is far more abrasive and far less precise than vinyl. Use an inexpensive cartridge with a replaceable stylus, set the tracking force to about 2 g, and lower the needle with the cueing lever. Do not use an expensive cartridge. Damage to your stylus, cartridge or turntable is your responsibility.

Music and copyright

You may only use audio you own or are licensed to use. Making a physical copy of a recording you do not hold the rights to may be illegal where you live. Your audio file never leaves your browser. We cannot see it, store it or check it, which means the responsibility is entirely yours. Do not use this service to produce records for sale or distribution of material you do not own.

Accounts

You need an account to generate files. Do not share your account. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.

Availability

This is a hobby project in beta. It may change, break or disappear without notice.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any direct, indirect or consequential damage arising from the use of this service, including damage to hardware, loss of material or loss of time.
